At Manistee Intermediate Education Center, we strive for excellence. We offer many services to help all that are in need.
Services Coordination of Special Education Services delivered by the MISD and local school districts. - Early Childhood Developmental Delay. A preschool program for children 3 to 6 years old qualifying for special education services.
- Severely Cognitively Impaired. Programs for students with severe cognitive disabilities, and also includes children with multiple disabilities.
- Moderately Cognitively Impaired. A program for students with moderate cognitive disabilities.
- School Psychological Services. A variety of tests may be administered in the area of intelligence, academic achievement, perception and personality.
- School Social Worker Services. Evaluation of aspects of emotional impairment and interpersonal relationships. Direct counseling may be given for better social-emotional adjustment.
- Project Find. Identifies students 0-26 years in need of special education, also includes monthly Preschool Screening Clinic.
- Early On. Birth to three years of age, Intervention Services.
- Autistically Impaired (AI). Identification of a lifelong developmental disability which is characterized by disturbances in the sequences of cognitive, affective, psychomotor, language and speech development.
- Speech / Language Therapy. Assessment of articulation, voice or fluency impairment, receptive and expressive language, fluency and/or vocal quality.
- Occupational Therapy. Assessment of sensory-motor and self-help skills, muscle strength, range of motion, postural reflexes, and/or needs for adaptive devices.
- Physically Impaired; Otherwise Health Impaired. Manifestation of a physical or other health impairment which adversely affects educational performance and may require physical adaptations.
- Hearing Impaired. Includes both deaf and hard of hearing and any student with any degree of hearing loss that interferes with development or adversely affects education performance.
- Visually Impaired. Any visual impairment that interferes with development or adversely affects education performance.
- Transition / Work Study Coordinator. A vocational evaluation will be completed to determine future planning for classes and/or work study.
