The ISD Content Area Network Groups have been bringing together district representatives from across the county to connect, learn, and collaborate for well over 20 years. These groups meet four times each year, providing a dedicated space for educators and leaders to share best practices, explore current initiatives, and engage in meaningful professional learning.

Through collaboration and shared expertise, network members strengthen instructional practices, align regional efforts, and support continuous improvement for students across our districts. The networks foster professional relationships and collective problem-solving that benefit schools, staff, and the broader educational community. February is a busy month with all seven groups convening for their third meeting of the year.

The specific groups have changed slightly over time, representing changes in staffing and content area needs. We are currently running K-1 Literacy, 2-3 Literacy, and 4-5 Literacy (facilitated by Shannon Fuller and Val Puffer, ISD Literacy Consultants), Math (facilitated by Tom Ouwinga, ISD Math Specialist), 6-12 ELA (facilitated by Dave Johnson, WMISD), Science (facilitated by Linnea Gibson, Northern MI Learning Consortium), and Social Studies (facilitated by Dave Johnson, Northern MI Learning Consortium).
