Have you heard about the READ, Write, Roar program from the Michigan Learning Channel? 

Read, Write, Roar is a tv show/video series that teaches grade level literacy lessons to students in grades Pre-K - 5. The best part is that students and families can access these lessons at home. Each lesson is a 25-30 min show that is taught by Michigan teachers and literacy coaches. The content in each episode is grade specific and aligns with the State Standards and the Essential Instructional Practices.

RWR Preschool

“Read, Write, ROAR!” Preschool is an English Language Arts program for preschool learners based on the research-supported practices in the Literacy Essentials for Prekindergarten. Beyond the show, parents and caregivers can learn tips for simple things you can do to make a big impact in the early learners in your life from the

short two-minute “Ready to Roar” episodes.

Grades K-3

“Read, Write, ROAR!” grades K to 3 is the flagship Michigan Learning Channel literacy show. Each lesson is taught by a certified Michigan educator from across the state of Michigan. Lessons are based in the research-supported Grades K to 3 Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy and are connected to statewide literacy standards. They include foundational skills lessons, read aloud and writing instruction and connect to social studies and science standards and themes.

Upper Elementary: Grades 4-5

Read, Write, ROAR! Upper Elementary offers engaging videos and activities designed for 4th and 5th graders to enhance their reading and writing skills. Hosted by experienced teachers and educators from across the state, these videos encourage deep thinking about literacy. Students will explore metacognition, decoding strategies, genre identification, figurative language, and media literacy all while learning about Michigan’s unique history, science, and culture.
